Our Spanish home in - 32 MIJAS PLAYA CLUB - is 3rd line beach and less that 2 minutes walk to the centre of the village. The house is very well maintained and is indeed typical of true Andalucian style. Incorporating a homely feel together with all the mod cons we are so used to in today's world, makes our home the perfect abode for the perfect family holiday. The accommodation consists of a large airy living room with TV, a modern well fitted out kitchen with access to a wonderful sunny courtyard at the rear, a lovely spot to sit and have your morning coffee! On the second floor we have three bedrooms all-double, the main with full ensuite and small balcony to the front of the house. The family bathroom is situated at this level also. The third floor takes you up to a small area fitted with washing machine, dryer, ironing board and a fridge to keep your beverages chilled while you sit and enjoy a setting sun on the large roof terrace.

There is also a washbasin and toilet on the ground floor. In summer there is an array of colourful flowers in pretty pots in the small front garden, which is enclosed by a scented hedge. Take advantage of the wonderful seating area in the evening, where you can listen to the decline of the hustle and bustle of people in an upbeat mood, walking to and fro at the end of the day. The house is also fully air-conditioned, a blessing and a necessity in the high season. Mijas Playa Club is a privately owned complex with 2 large swimming pools, a tennis court, and exceptionally well-maintained gardens. To the end of the complex proudly stands a fantastic restaurant with extremely professional entertainment. The food is first class, and if you fancy doing the Argentinian Tango or the jitterbug well, this is the place to do it! If you love fresh vegetables and fruit the market is within walking distance, and is available twice a week.

La Cala de Mijas: La Cala de Mijas or "La Cala" as it is known by the locals, is a small fishing village,which is hidden on the Costa del Sol in mainland Spain. It is a 25-minute drive from Malaga International Airport. There is a continuous all year round village atmosphere with a mixture of local Spanish and retired Europeans. In the summer months there is a small influx of holidaymakers. LA CALA village has its own Banks, Doctors, Chemists and excellent Supermarkets. There are lots of local restaurants and bars to suit all ages and cultures, which are within a minutes walk in either direction. The centre has beautiful mature tropical trees with tiled walkways and public seating where the locals mingle. The beach area is only a two-minute walk from the village centre and it has its own sleepy bars and restaurants shadowed by a fantastic restored Moorish tower.

.... At night there's nothing more wonderful than taking a stroll on the front, or just sit and watch the locals contently fishing into the still of the night. The local bus comes into the village approximately every half hour and costs only 1.20 to Fuengirola (8km) or 1.60 to Marbella (13km). There is an abundance of sports and recreational facilities in and around the surrounding area of LA CALA, which has its own golf course. Miraflores Golf Club is only a 5-minute drive away. There are two water parks (not for the fainthearted!) one 8km away in Fuengirola and the other 15km in Torremolinos.

How to get there: Fly to Malaga in Main Land Spain - La Cala is a small, old style Spanish village just 20km from the airport. Cheap flights from most European Airports to Malaga airport are available. From the UK you have Easyjet - British Airways - Ryanair - Aerlingus, from Ireland you have Ryanair & Aerlingus. Car hire is available from all Major European car rental companies. There is a Local train which runs from the airport to Funengirola and from there you can catch a short bus ride into La Cala ( 8km ) The trains and buses run regularly between both areas. There are always local taxis available which will bring you direct.
