
Corvera Golf and Country Club is a luxury resort, offering visitors a multitude of sporting and cultural opportunities. The 18 hole, par 72, International Competition standard golf course was designed by Jose Maria Olazabal and there is a practice course and a driving range with covered pergola. The complex offers two tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, a multi-purpose sports court for basketball, five-a-side football and handball, a children's play area and a petanque terrain, as well as a large number of swimming pools all beautifully planted and maintained. The Equestrian centre is set up for trekking and jumping, and is already home to some 6/8 horses and 3 ponies. A resident riding instructor is available for lessons and advice. Local competitions are starting to take place at this prestigious facility. There are biking and walking trails around the resort and into the surrounding nature reserve.

CorveraCorvera, in the province of Murcia is on Spain's Costa Calida and has a population of about 2,000 in an area covering almost 45 square kilometres. It is situated on the south of the Sierra de Carrascoy Mountains, around 30 kilometres from the town of Murcia. Principally an agricultural area, Corvera is known for its dense olive crops, abundant almond groves, and expansive wheat fields, in addition to irrigated crops of artichokes and citrus fruits. Much of the landscape surrounding Corvera is extremely dry and arid, although there are some beautiful fresh pine forests in the nearby region. Things to Do and Places to Visit in CorveraCorvera is most widely known today for the Corvera Golf and Country Club; built early in the current century during the property boom. The development is both residential and a holiday destination: it attracts golfers from all over the world. The country club boosts an international competition standard course which was designed by famous Spanish golfer José María Olazábal. Spread over 70 hectares, the 18 holes have a par of 72. Aside from the luxurious club house, there is an excellent top-class restaurant, a golf shop, and also a driving range and putting greens. Buggies, trolleys and clubs are available for rent and golf lessons are also offered. The Virgen del Rosario is the major annual fiesta of Corvera, and falls on the first two weeks in October, making this a great time to visit and join in the festivities. The actual fiesta falls on October 7th, and has been celebrated since 1623 where the Church of the Virgen del Rosario was first built in the village and consecrated. The two weeks of celebrations are filled with family activities, parties and live musical performances. Along with the majority of Spanish towns, Corvera also celebrates Easter week with many lively processions and festivities. There are several choices of beaches for visitors to Corvera; however the nearest to Corvera accomodation is around 30 minutes' drive away. The large city of Cartegena is around the same distance; and a place of great interest for those interested in Spanish history, as it is home to many museums, historical buildings and even has a very well preserved Roman theatre in the centre of the city. The theatre is surrounded by restaurants and cafes, and affords spectacular views of the entire town. How to Get to Corvera from the AirportThe new Murcia International Airport is being built at Corvera and is due to open in the summer of 2013, but until then visitors can fly to Alicante airport, which is just over an hour away by car. You can either rent a car at the airport, which will also be very useful for exploring the towns around Corvera rentals, or you can make use of one of several companies that provide a shuttle bus from Alicante airport to Corvera. Alternatively, you can use Murcia's San Javier airport, which is only around 45 minutes from Corvera by hire car or taxi, but you will probably find there are more regular and cheaper flights from your nearest UK airport to Alicante. Corvera WeatherThe World Health Organisation lists Murcia as one of the areas with the cleanest air and the most recommendable year-round temperature in the world. Corvera and the rest of the Costa Calida enjoy a typical Mediterranean coastal climate with around 3000 hours of sunshine every year, and guarantees of more than 300 days of sun.
