Quesada

Ciudad Quesada has a unique history totally unlike any other Spanish town on the Costa Blanca. Whereas most towns were founded by ancient settlers and you can observe historical remains from the times of the Romans, Moors, Arabs and Christians, Ciudad Quesada does not offer any such fascinating insights into the past. Instead, Quesada is the result of the dream of Justo Quesada Samper, an entrepreneur who envisioned building his own holiday town where people could have an idyllic life, and different nationalities could live side-by-side in harmony. Quesada began as an "urbanization" that quickly spread and grew as shops, bars and cafés were opened to cater for the fast growing population. In 1999 a mayor was appointed and Quesada opened its own town hall, and became a town in its own right.

Things to do and places to visit in Quesada

Quesada's Aguapark is a popular attraction that brings people from other towns into Quesada. The park has six main slides; two of which are quite challenging, and four that can be enjoyed by those who prefer something more gentle. In addition, there are three pools for children, a large pool for both children and adults, a cafeteria, restaurant and picnic areas.

If you want to spend time on the beach you will need to go to the nearby Gardemar del Segura which is around 7 miles away. Here you will find you can participate in water sports, as well as a wide choice of restaurants and bars.

Although Quesada is a new town it has a large variety of eating places that serve international cuisine such as Thai, Japanese, typical British foods as well as the Mediterranean fare of the area. Many restaurants in Quesada will serve a variety of international dishes, so it may be possible to eat Chinese or Mediterranean foods at the same establishment.

There are plenty of facilities in Quesada that you can expect to find in any Spanish resort, so you do not need to venture further afield from your Quesada accommodation to enjoy your holiday. However, Quesada rentals are also ideally situated to serve as a base to visit the surrounding towns in the area.

The busy town of Torrevieja is just 20 minutes drive away, and before reaching the town you can visit the natural salt lakes which are home to various species of wildlife including flamingos.

A few miles north of Quesada you will find Rojales village which has a great nightlife as well as traditional bars and restaurants.

The popular La Marquesa Golf Club is just two miles from Quesada, and if you have a hire car, you will have a further choice of around 20 more courses. There are also plenty of bowling greens in the village, or you can enjoy a cycling or horse riding trip to the beach or salt lakes.

From Quesada you can visit local markets in the area. On Wednesdays and some Sundays there is a market held in Guardamar. The large market of Torrevieja which has over 1200 stalls is held every Friday.

How to get to Quesada from the Airport

It is easy to reach Quesada from both Alicante and Murcia airports. Although Murcia is nearest, located just 30 miles away, there are more flights to Alicante, which is about 40 miles by car or bus. Both airports have excellent transfer options and you can choose between a shuttle service, a regular bus or hire a car.
