The Costa del Sol: The Costa del Sol has the best climate in Europe with over 320 days of sunshine a year. Nerja is a wonderful contrast between a sleepy fishing village with a fantastic lively atmosphere in the evenings ideal for families, couples & friends. The coastline has small bay & cove intermingled with Rocky cliffs. Its most dramatic spot is the Balcón de Europa, a cliff that juts out to sea and is enclosed by two sheltered beaches. This palm-shaded promenade is a favourite spot of many visitors with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. The walkway was built in 1895 in honour of a visit from the Spanish king Alfonso XIII, the phrase “Balcon de Europa” is said to be coined by the king himself during this visit. East of Malaga is relatively quiet compared with many of the destinations towards Marbella, it has stunning mountains and countryside to enjoy. Further attractions are within reasonable travelling distance such as Cordoba, Granada, where you can see the Alhambra Palace, not to be missed.

Nerja / Burriana Area: Nerja is located at the feet of the sierra de Almijara which protects the town. Nerja retains mild temperatures in both winter and summer. Nerja´s biggest beach is Burriana Beach to the east, here is the restaurant Ayo, where Ayo himself cooks an enormous paella over an open fire.

The Caves: Discovered in 1959,the Nerja caves are now one of the biggest tourist attractions in Spain, visited by hundreds of thousands each year.One of the most beautiful cave complexes in Europe,look especially for the 32mhigh column in Cataclysm Hall which was formed by an estimated 1,000 billion drops of water. Fiestas: there are a lot of Fiestas, the most popular is the Easter week in March/April and in July the Flamenco and classic Festival in Nerja caves. Frigiliana: No visit to Nerja is complete without a trip to Frigiliana,some 5 kms inland.The picturesque village is steeped in history and one of the best ways to learn it is to take one of the official walking tours. Golf: Nerja does not have its own golf course but it has plenty of golfers.The Golf International Nerja Society ( GINS) has some 750 members and for information go to the 19thHole, Avda. Castilla Perez in Nerja. Next Golf course ca. 15 min by car.
