Quiet with spectacular Views from large sunny balcony overlooking Med

This modern, well furnished , homely and comfortable apartment is in an enviable and quiet location overlooking the Med and with the mountains behind - but just 300m down a short hill to the blue flag beaches, cafes, shops and pleasant ,long promenade. The property has one double and one twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms with good showers (and one bath) & wc's, well equipped & updated kitchen with new worksurfaces (everything apart from dishwasher) and comfortable lounge with satellite TV , DVD and air conditioning which is enhanced by ceiling fans and air coolers in all rooms.Mosquito shutters in main bedroom allow guests to sleep with patio doors open if they wish. The very large main SE facing balcony affords spectacular views of the Med and sunrises. 4 is the ideal occupancy but the double bed settee in the lounge allows max occupancy of 5/6. The wow factor which attracts so many and ensures many repeat bookings is the balcony and view. Sunrise from your bed is a lovely experience.

The attractions of the relatively quiet, pleasant low rise, family resort of Mojacar Playa are very accessible. The sea front has an attractive, well maintained and clean promenade and series of well maintained, clean blue flag, sandy beaches. There are a range of quality restaurants, lively cafes and mostly small shops and well stocked supermarkets. There are some small night clubs and discos at the far end of the resort (away from the apartment) but the resort is primarily a relaxing family resort with a lack of neon lights, slot machines and lager louts. There are many attractions within easy reach - aquapark, quality golf courses, go-karting, quad biking and many interesting cultural and scenic excursions. It is also a good area for walking. In summer there are the usual range of beach activities and there are many kiddies playgrounds along the seafront

The Almanzora region is known as the 'hidden jewel of Spain' and is relatively unspoiled (except for a small area 8k north of Mojacar Playa) with an absence of high rise buildings. It enjoys reputedly the warmest, sunniest driest weather in Spain (technically a desert) and it is superb for winter, spring and autumn breaks as well as the hot summer period. There is the nearby old Moorish town of Mojacar and there are many archaeological sites and ancient limestone caves in the area. The Cabo de Gata national park coastal area just to the south is spectacular with secluded coves and volcanic and karst scenery. Inland in the nearby mountains is Mini Hollywood- the location for spaghetti westerns (Fistful of Dollars)and Lawrence of Arabia- and a good zoo. Granada (& Alhambra Palace) is 2 hrs away by motorway and Cartagena, Aguilas and Almeria are also worthwhile, attractive and historic towns to visit, all within an hour or so of Mojacar

Mojacar Area: Spectacular moors & christians fiesta second weekend in June in Mojacar. Other fiestas at various times. Local street markets at Garrucha, Carboneras & Vera.(all within 25 mins). Aquapark and go-karting both within 20 mins.Golf - top class courses at Desert springs & Valle del Este (25 mins) and good holiday courses at Macenas (5 mins) Marina (in Mojacar Playa) and Cortijo Grande. Villaricos (fishing port), Carboneras, san Juan and Mojacar old town are close by & worth a visit as are the old Andalucian villages in thje mountains within 30-45 min drive of the apt. Tennis courts nearby, scuba diving, banana boat rides (summer), horse riding and sea fishing and funfairs (summer)are all available. Plenty to do for kids. The range of restaurants is superb in Mojacar Playa with usual full range of international as well as Spanish and English cuisine at good, competitive prices.

How to get there: Flights to Almeria (55 mins drive away) from most provincial and london airports with most budget airlines. Can also fly to Murcia (90 mins) or Alicante (both under 2 hours drive using Med motorway). Taxis also available at airport - fairly cheap fares (65 euros e/w) from Almeria airport. or we can arrange transport through a friend.

Further Information: The apartment is on the first floor and so there are some steps (about 12) to the pool and car park and down to the road so it is unsuitable for elderly, infirm or disabled. there is a small hill down to the coast (about 300m max) but this can be overcome by using your car. Guest Book: ' the apartment was well maintained and very well equipped -everything we needed for a lovely holiday helped further by the superb weather (October). the superb view from the balcony was a memorable feature. Mojacar is a really pleasant relatively quiet resort with excellent restaurants and the coastal area to the south is beautiful. good for kids -we will return soon' (family) ' a great holiday in an excellent apartment - Mojacar was really lively as it was fiesta in June but it is not like most spoiled Costa resorts and the beach and pool were usually quiet and inviting' ( a professional league footballer and partner) 'Brilliant holiday in an apartment which was 'home from home' -have fallen in love with Mojacar and will return soon' (middle aged couple)
