The Costa Calida: With over 300 days of sunshine per year, the Costa Cálida is an ideal place for holidays. Within easy reach are the spectacular cliff walks and unspoilt natural beaches of the Calblanque National Park. The long sandy beaches of the Mar Menor, Europe's largest inland sea, are just a few minutes' drive, the Mar de Cristal being one of Europe's cleanest and safest beaches. The historic city of Cartagena with its sea port, historic streets and Roman amphitheatre is just 20 minutes away. It has several annual festivals including the Romans & Carthaginians in September, and the Roman Theatre Museum is well worth a visit.

La Manga Club Area: The nearby resorts of the Mar Menor provide endless opportunities for water sports, swimming or sunbathing. The pretty fishing village of Cabo de Palos with its famous Sunday market has several seafood and other restaurants. At La Manga Club, the ever-popular Los Molinos Pool Bar restaurant hosts weekly Flamenco nights during the summer season and the nearby La Cala private beach has an excellent seafood restaurant at the foot of the cliffs. As well as regular golf and tennis tournaments open to visitors, first-class lessons and coaching are available at the La Manga Club golf and tennis academies.

How to get there: Alicante Airport 60 minutes by car. Murcia Airport (San Javier) 25 minutes by car. Both airports are served by low-cost airlines and car hire is easily available.
