Jávea Pueblo - Jávea Old Town Jávea old town is steeped in history. It is situated a mile or so inland because in days of yore the inhabitants of Jávea feared the incursions of marauding pirates. Wander down the ancient narrow streets of the historic town centre of Jávea and admire the whitewashed buildings with stunning late gothic architectural features such as tosca sandstone porticoes, gothic bay windows and wrought iron balconies. The Soler Blasco, an archaeological and ethnographical museum offers a wealth of information about the areas Iberian history. Visit the gothic fortified church of San Bartolomé (Iglesia de San Bartolomé) in the church square (Plaza de la Iglesia) that dominates the centre of Jávea's town. Rich in medieval history, the building dates back to the 15th century. By the side of the church lies a beautiful building which houses the local indoor market where you can buy local fresh produce daily, with its stalls full of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish from the region. Jávea Puerto - Jávea Port The port of Jávea known as Aduanas de Mar has a fascinating charm that is hard to define and is many peoples favourite area of Jávea. The views across the bay are spectacular. The port was built in 1871 and was once a shipping harbour for the export of raisins. After this trade was no longer in demand, the once large harbour diminished to a small fishing harbour. Jávea Puerto has a real Spanish feel and still functions as a fishing port with yachts moored in the harbour. It is an area where locals live and work in harmony with the tourist elements. Enjoy the ambience of the port as the fishermen bring in their fresh daily catches and watch the sailing boats set off from the marina. It is a lively bustling area which is popular with visitors and the promenade is lined with many boutiques, shops, pavement cafés, bars and open air terrace restaurants overlooking the mediterranean sea. Jávea has many beautiful places with stunning views and interesting sights. A landmark of the port area is Santa Maria de Loreto church (Nuestra Señora del Loreto), built in 1967 with a very unusual design and well worth a visit. The ceiling of this church is shaped like a ship's hull and is dedicated to the patron saint of the fishermen of Jávea, La Virgen Santa de Loreto.

Javea has something to offer everyone ; beaches and coves and historical sites to visit and wonderful walks . The town is divided into three distinct sections. There is the old town, with its narrow cobbled streets and its monuments of spanish history and culture. The town has a rich culinary tradition which has been entirley preserved and which can be sampled, in the form as 'tapas', in most bars of the town . The port area is still a working fishing port and is a delightful place to visit with its mixture of fish makets ans seafront bars and cafes. Every year, javea's beaches are awarded the blue flag of the european union. The bustling 'arenal' beach offers fne sand and shallow waters, nice play areas for children, restaurants, cafes, shops and ample parking facilities.

Things to do: Outings within only 25 minutes drive there are theme parks in benidorm; terra mitica theme park, aqualandia water park with superslides and mundomar [ animal park, dolphins, seals etc .] the new science &oceanographic [500 different fsh] parks at valencia is worth a trip. The terrain of the montgo and jalon valleys provide the perfect environment for walking. The waterfalls at the fonts d'algar are a 30 minute drive from the villa . The hilltop town of guadalest a scenic hour away. Ibiza and majorca are both just a short ferry ride away with crossings leaving denia harbour daily. During the summer there many wonderful fiestas to see. Golf information the la sella golf resort is 5 minute drive away.

How to get there: Approxmately 1 hour in either direction from the airports of Valencia north or Alicante in the south. the a-7 motorway takes you most of way in both directions this is a easy drive. We will send you detailed map and directions on booking,. Many budget airlines fly to Alicante and a few to Valencia. These include easyjet.com bmibaby.com, ryanair.com and many others. Its very easy to book carhire from either airport the prices are much lower than the uk. You can book on line with out paying a depost. You pay on arrival. The best carhire we use is drivespain.com. Their is a good cab service in this area and a cab can be order ed by telephone at any time.
