| A particular feature for holidays in mid to low season is our temperature controlled heated pool which can be maintained at 28-30c during cooler months. The villa also has it's own shady pine forest and pathways to explore the extensive gardens. The pergola situated on the pool terrace has an insect repellent lamp and an additional fridge on the large dining terrace for cold drinks. | ||

Location: Villa Barbaro is 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport.Only 20 minutes from the local beaches at Torrox & Nerja The house is 200 metres off the main Torrox to Cómpeta road and is easily approached by car down a well maintained concrete drive. There's ample & safe parking for at least 2 vehicles within the gated grounds. It is ideally situated within easy driving distance of both villages. It is 3km from Competa and 12km from the coast at Torrox. The house is in a peaceful location and overlooks the Sierra Almijara national park. There are excellent walks within this area, also great opportunities for horse riding & pony trekking for all abilities. For keen golfers there are 2 18 hole golf courses within easy driving distance. Granada & the Alhambra Palace are under 2 hour's drive and skiing in the Sierra Nevadas is just 2 hours away. Cordoba is also easily reached in this time. A great place to explore the Axarquia & the Costa Tropical, this is where 'Real Spain' can still be found. Villa Barbaro: Situated on the border of the Sierra Almijara National Park, the house is very easily reached from the main Torrox to Competa road 200 metres down the well maintained concrete drive. The villa is set in 7,600m2. The mediterranean gardens have paths winding through a shady pine forest and a delightful variety of olive & fruit trees. A pretty rock garden overlooks the 7.5m x 3.5m pool & the spacious pool terrace has outdoor shower & brick-built barbecue. The open plan lounge/dining room has air-conditioning plus a wood burner stove. A further large, shady terrace looking out across the mountains is ideal for al fresco dining. This also being a safe & separate environment for small children away from the pool. There are 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 1 shower room & 1 bathroom. All bedrooms have fans. The fully equipped kitchen has gas oven, hob, grill, microwave, dishwasher & fridge-freezer. A washing machine & tumble dryer are housed in the laundry area at the rear of the house. Low Season Holidays: We now offer all year round rental at Villa Barbaro. Cómpeta & the surrounding area is a walkers paradise from October to May. The Almijara & Tejeda National park is an area of outstanding natural beauty and it's right on the doorstep, springtime is an excellent time to be here. Local guided walks or horse riding can be arranged during your stay. During the Christmas period, a decorated tree is provided. It's possible to ski in the Sierra Nevadas in the morning & still be back in time to swim in the heated pool, then sip a glass of local wine on the terrace whilst watching a magnificent sunset. The mild winter is a great time to visit Granada or Cordoba, a much more comfortable temperature for sightseeing. Discounts are available for 2 week bookings. Our rates and changeover days may be flexible during this time, please enquire. Golf: A stay in the Villa Barbaro is ideal for combining a golfing holiday whilst experiencing Andulacia. The Costa Del Sol is second to none for it's choice of golf courses, catering for every range of handicap, high or low. Just 25 minutes from Villa Barbaro is Baviera Golf Club. Designed by Jose Maria Canzares, it's an 18 hole, 6100 yard, par 71 course, with driving range. The course is surrounded by pleasant gardens & lakes, with views of the nearby mountains & sea. This sets enough challenges for the low handicaper but is not too difficult for the moderate golfer, making it ideal for couples, or as they say, 'doesn't spoil a good day'. A further 20 minutes drive towards Malaga you'll find Anoreta Golf Club, another Canizares designed course. This 18 hole, 6538 yard, par 71course sets a slightly more difficult challenge due to water hazards being featured on 11 of the 18 holes, but still makes for a very enjoyable round of golf.
