The apartments of the Gold Crown holiday complex of Dona Lola are set beside the sea amid heavily scented gardens, swaying palms and waterfalls. The main swimming pool meanders for 270 feet right by the sea, and there's an over 18's pool, and a heated pool in the indoor leisure complex. This spacious 3-bedroom air-conditioned penthouse has superb unimpeded views over the sea and coast-line from its large South-facing balcony.

Dona Lola is located between Fuengirola and Marbella, about ten minutes drive to each. Five minutes beyond Marbella is Puerto Banus, renowned for it's marina crammed with big boats, expensive cars, and fashionable folks. The place to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. Back down to Earth. Dona Lola is also within beach-walking distance of La Cala in one direction, and Cabopino Port in the other. Both a very well worth a visit, La Cala for it's relaxing beach-bars, Cabopino for it's marina and restaurants, and both have lovely beaches.

From this third (top) floor vantage point, the fishing boats can be seen leaving the beach in the morning, and perhaps struggling back against the waves on the rougher days a few hours later. Larger boats and ships, including cruise ships and the Malaga to Gibralter 'Sea-Cat' ferry, are constantly appearing on, and disappearing from, the horizon. Some of my guests have told me that they have spent quite a large proportion of their holiday sat on the loungers on this balcony, just watching nautical life go by. And why not? There's a table and chairs so you can eat out there, and you're not far from the fridge for cool drinks, or the air-conditioned rooms within if things really do get too hot.

Extensive range of leisure facilities. The Dona Lola resort offers an extremely extensive range of leisure facilities. The outdoor pool begins at a shallow end safe for youngsters, and then meanders right alongside the sea for 270 feet and under 2 lovely white bridges, before reaching the deep end! The beach is only a few steps down from the many loungers and umbrellas around the pool. There is also an indoor leisure centre, with it's own heated pool, spa, saunas, steam-room, and gym etc. There are areas for the youngsters to gather , with pool-tables. Dona Lola is not short of bars or restaurants ! Within three minutes walk of my apartment are seven restaurants, including Spanish tapas, Indian, Chinese, an all-day buffet, and an upmarket restaurant renowned along the coast. Additionally there's a beach restaurant next to the main pool, and beach-bars nearby. There are bars to suit all tastes, some featuring karaoke, quiz-nights, etc. There is free evening entertainment in our "Bar / Bistro".

Extensive range of sporting facilities. There are tennis courts on the complex, and there are snooker and pool tables in the indoor leisure club. There are good places in the sea close by for snorkelling. On beaches within easy reach of the resort you can try water-skiing, jet-biking, sailing, and wind-surfing. There's a diving school at Torreblanca, horse-riding at fuengirola, some cracking bowling greens at very nearby Miraflores, water-parks at Torremolinos and Fuengirola, and a casino at Benalmadena!

Golf Information The Costa del Sol (or Costa del Golf as many Spanish road signs proclaim!) is known as the 'golfer's paradise', and deservedly so. As well as the weather (320 days of sunshine a year!), the many courses designed by famous professionals also entice golfers to this area. There are thirty courses within a twenty minute drive. There is even one within walking distance. It's a magnificent place to play golf throughout the year. Rounds at most courses can be booked through our reception, on (0034) 952 932477.

Skiing Information The Sierra Nevada is only about two and a half hours away by car. There is a wide variety of ski-slopes there, suitable for learners and experts. The full range of equipment and clothing is available for hire here, and the prices are very reasonable. The Sierra Nevada is a really nice place to visit during an out-of-season holiday at my apartment. You don't need to ski to ride on the cable-cars and ski-lifts, and to thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and fantastic views. Perhaps stay overnight, experience the atmosphere of the ski-bars too, and visit Granada on the way back the next day ?
