The Costa del Sol: The climate in Andalusia is generally mild in winter (although some nights are chilly) and hot and dry in summer. Winter is like the British Spring. You could explore the coast either east to the lively resorts of Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinos or to the city of Malaga and its Picasso museum; or west to Marbella, Puerto Banus, Estepona and Gibraltar. Going north you will find Mijas and the mountain villages and an easy two or three hour drive will take you to the spectacular cities of Seville and Granada. For golfers, the area is reknowned for its fine courses. Calahonda / Dona Lola Resort: It's possible you may never actually leave the wonderful and popular Dona Lola complex during your stay. Quiet and relaxing amidst its own tropical gardens, it boasts shops, restaurants, bars, children's play area, gym, sauna, spa, swimming pools, tennis courts, snooker room and a beach. Daily activity in the summer revolves around the spectacular outdoor pool that overlooks the ocean. Calahonda is on the N340 Costa Del Sol Highway, a half-hour drive from Malaga airport. Its El Zoco centre provides the visitor with bars, restaurants of many different cuisines, a supermarket, shops, cafes and business facilities. A short drive inland takes you to the authentic Andalucia. The nearby town of Mijas offers horseracing, bullfighting and spectacular views. Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinos and the city of Malaga are all within a 25 minute drive to the east. Marbella and Puerto Banus are 10 minutes to the west. Beyond are Estepona and Gibraltar (90 mins). How to get there: Fly to Malaga then a 30 minute drive. Our agent in Spain offers a pick-up service for the same price as a taxi. There are plenty of taxis and an efficient bus service running along the coast - stopping at Calahonda - down to Estepona via Marbella. *Alternative airports (requiring a longer transfer) are Gibraltar, Seville and Granada.
